Surf Liquors welcomes surfers to the North Coast, the watersports capital of the Caribbean. Visit us and mention that you are a visiting surfer and you will receive an additional 5% off our already low prices on liquors, wines and cigars.
For board surfers, Playa Encuentro is the place to carve. Located on a beautiful and deserted stretch of beach between Sosua and Cabarete, this spot attracts surfers from all over the world. It is the numero uno surf spot in the Dominican Republic. As you drive off the main road and down a dirt road to the playa, you will see the beautiful ocean beckoning beyond the coconut palm trees and sea grape while passing horses and cattle grazing in the fields. If you weren’t stoked already, you will become so now. There are several surf schools located along this strecth so beginners are welcomed and encouraged to take lessons. It is a reef break with fairly deep water away from the shoreline. Consistent year round swells, getting larger in the winter months, keep the international crowd coming. The local surfers are joined by their comrades from the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Israel, among others.
For wind and kite surfers, Playa Cabarete is the beach to sail and fly on. With a reef protecting this beautiful bay and daily strong tradewinds, Playa Cabarete has become one of the leading wind and kite surfing destinations in the world, and hosts such competitions as Master of the Ocean, where competitors must board, wind and kite surf to determine who is the best overall surfer. Many wind and kite surfing schools line the beach but experienced sail and kiters need not fret as Playa Cabarete is a huge bay with room for all. Not remote like Playa Encuentro, you can enjoy a great meal and/or drinks at one of the many bars and restaurants lining the rear of this strand.
Sit right on the beach under the stars as these open air bars and restaurants move tables and chairs onto the sand after dark for the nightly party. Surf all day with your comrades from Europe and around the worldthen kick back and party with the surfer crowds in the beach town with the Caribbean’s hottest nightlife!
